A Trust for My Two Granddaughters

I wanted to set up a trust for my two grandchildren. I am not getting any younger, and I wanted them to be taken care of should anything happen to me. I wish that I could trust their mother to make sure they have money for college so they don’t have to worry, but she is not the most responsible person. I felt that the money would be spent before either of my grandchildren even graduated from high school. I knew that I needed to hire a trust attorney for Orange County residents because I did not know the first thing about setting this up on my own.

I also knew that I wanted to have it legally binding, so it made sense to set it up through a law firm that would not allow my son’s wife to have any access to the money in case something did happen to me. I had hired a lawyer decades ago for my will, but I figured I probably needed to have that redone as well since my two grandchildren were not even born yet when I had it made. The will gives my son and his wife complete control of everything.

That would be fine if my son did not allow his wife to walk all over him. Because of that, I had to take matters into my own hands. I wanted to make sure my grandchildren were taken care of before anything else. The law firm that I hired to help me with both the trust as well as my will was very forthcoming in both areas. I knew that I had made the right choice from the moment I walked into their office. It is such a relief knowing that this is finally taken care of and I can rest assured that my girls will be fine no matter what.
